Two thumps up!Ĭurly's World of Freeware has donated a copy of this software and related data to the Classic PC Games catalog. If you just want to try a single remake this year, it should be this one for sure. There are also lots different game options (one player, two players, Battle, one player and CPU against computer etc.) and some extras like unlockable secrets, an image gallery and other stuff.Īll of this combined with great graphics, an amazing soundtrack and excellent gameplay will keep you entertained for hours. It has that nostalgic "Golden Axe", "Double Dragon" feeling and you just can't help but seeing yourself back in an arcade hall putting in another coin for more credits to play on.Įight different characters, 43 locations with multipath-splits and 52 different enemy types guarantee for many hours of fun playing this game. It includes new music, locations, enemies, moves, graphical effects, a parallel plot and a lot more features. Has it been that long since I played it properly or are you talking SOR3? Never played that, apart from the odd five minutes on an emulator here and there.Streets of Rage Remake is a homage to the famous Sega MegaDrive/Genesis saga, aiming to keep the same gameplay and spirit from the 2nd and 3rd installments with some touches from the 1st one. His jab loops did pretty much break SOR2 though.Īlas I have no idea what you're on about with maxed-out stars though.

Neutral jump knee drop into grab, two attacks then jump over and throw, because it does more damage. I fucking love the fact that you can control direction during jumps in remake, it's great.

Proper lol at the tick throw, me too I think. Take that Donovan you slapheaded bastard. Nate, as a Ken player you must also enjoy it when you have Axel maxed out with stars and he essentially does a Shoryureppa. Axel has the easiest infinite jab too, because Skate's and Blaze's are too fast and Max's is too slow. Also using Axel's knee drop to set enemies up for grabs is probably where I learned to tick throw.

Grand upper (the godlike f, f B attack of which Nate speaks) is just the best, plus you can do little jab combos into it. of-rage-3-for-v5-and-bonus-mini-modAlthough a remake and those 'mods', they feel and play like the originals and even.
I pick Axel in SOR2 for the same reasons as Nate though.

When I'm in form I can go for really long spells as Axel without getting hit, so I can believe that someone with a lot more skill, time and obsessive knowledge and dedication who knows how to break the bosses, has seemingly memorised the enemy patterns and is using a character with more invincibility gimmicks can do the whole game. Well timed jumps can stop you getting hit as well. The B+C backwards kick has a ton of invincibility, as does his atomic drop. Branching paths, improved animations, extra characters - it sounds so good on paper, but just wasn't quite up to SOR2's standards. The technique rating for special weapon moves was inspired. The charging up of the A special moves was brilliant and stopped players from camping and hitting A. I'm defo in the SOR2 camp, but SOR3 probably had more refined character combat. I love the star moves, and the ability to use your A specials without losing life if you let them recharge is a good addition too. SOR3 takes a lot of flak and I'm firmly in the "SOR2 is the best by miles" camp, but it wasn't without its fun ideas. The doge is if you tap up up or down down, you do a roll to the top or bottom of the screen that has some invincibility on it. Essentially like playing Skate in SOR2 but everyone can do it. Double tap left or right and then hold it to go into a run, and then if you hit B you get your towards/towards B attack.
